yes it does work besause i wrnt to the class

  • Candi-O says:

it did for me, but not my brother. Probably depends more on the person than the program, but there are many different programs as well as peer pressures

  • Almont00 says:

Nope, if anything it is pushing them to do more “drugs”. Kids do the whole rebellion thing and if a bunch of over zealous social workers and reformed drug abusers tell them to stop doing something, they will do it more out of spite.

Studies have shown repeatedly that DARE is almost completely ineffective in keeping kids off drugs. And DARE p9rograms are extremely costly as well. When studies are cited that supposedly have evidence that it works” the details of the studies are not made available for public scrutiny.

Almost all of the so called “evidence” that dare works is anecdotal. “Students tell me it works” type stuff. Also they use “satisfaction surveys” of kids who have taken the program to site that it works. Fortunatley or Unfortunately, almost all the kids who say it works would never have tried drugs in the first place.

D.A.R.E. kept me from doing anything illegal for a long time, and that’s hard to do when you live in a tiny suburban neighborhood with nothing to do and no girls interested in you. It wasn’t until my mother started doubting my resilince that i decided it must be expected of me so i started drinking. But i’m irish so that was inevitable. But i don’t smoke or anything so keep it up.
