Being a fiscal conservative my answer is yes. What do you imagine the cost of unwanted/unplanned pregnancies/children is to the taxpayers? Since the GOP does not disclose their estimates, I can only guess in the billions. Yes, I would rather pay for birth control that raise a child born to a child.
It would be nice but no.
Then again with 0bama-care it looks like there isn’t going to be a choice.
No.
EDIT: Okay, Longer Answer.
No Way!…. The more “benefits” and rights the Government Doles Out, the more perceived discrimination and de-sensitization there is.
So, today it Birth Control Pills that HAVE To be paid for by the Insurance Companies. Well, then the Men think they “deserve” Viagra, Impotence IS a medical condition too ya know.
And next, what do we make the Insurance Companies “Pay for?” Ny-Quill? Aspirin? Band-Aids? At no cost?
When do we start allowing Adult Children start receiving their Parent’s Retirement Benefits…(like they do in Greece?)
It just Keeps Expanding.
The LGBT Community wants the same Rights as Heterosexuals….They want to be Covered by their spouses Insurance, they want their Spouses Social Security Checks when the spouse passes away. They want to be able to File their Taxes as “Married” and to get the standard Deductions that a Hetero Couple gets.
I’m Republican and I’m Christian, but I do not FAULT the LGBT community for feeling Discriminated Against.
I FAULT the Federal Government for Picking and Choosing, who is acceptable, and who isn’t, what Choices meet there Definitions and which don’t.
If it were Truly Fair and Equal……We would all Pay Taxes as Individuals….if you have kids, wives or goats, that is your personal choice and should not be SANCTIONED or Credited or Subsidized in any manner by a GOVERNMENT.
If Social Security were a Privatized System, where you are still required to Put in Mandatory Contributions, It would be YOUR Property and when you die, you could WILL the Benefits to Whomever your Choose, not just who the Government Deems Acceptable.
See as how the Government “Gives” us more and more Rights, they open up More and More Discrimination and more and more Un-Fairness?
We need them LESS involves in our personal choices. And make us MORE Responsible for the Results of our Choices.
Supply Food, Water, Shelter and BASIC Emergency and Preventative Medical Care for those AMERICANS who are Physically, Mentally or Emotion INCAPABLE of caring for themselves.
After that, you must pay for your own Wants.
Birth control is actually very unhealthy, because it convinces the brain that it is actually pregnant, causing mood swings, nausea, dizziness etc. BTW, my answer is no because if the government pays it, citizens are paying through taxes. Since a lot of people don’t believe in birth control, it isn’t fair that some people have to pay to fund things that go against their moral code.
