Possible Drug Abuse?
Question by Beth66: possible drug abuse?
If a man becomes involved with a woman from his past where there were numerous legal problems (criminal) and drug abuse and his behavior changes dramatically is it possible there is a drug connection again? He dropped all of his friends, his professional training as an athlete and started chronic lying. He had episodes of bizarre behavior also.

Could be..
If there was a history of drug involvement in the past.. it’s not too hard to start again later in life.. it just happens.
Don’t expect him to stop, though.. you should try find out what is bothering him to have begun again.
I hate to say it but most likely yes it sounds alot like repeated behavior and drug addiction is very hard to get away from this isnt just something I can say lightly I have dealt with the ravages of drug addiction in life and knowing first hand what changes it caused in me when I started up again to quitting and how hard it can be to quit some drugs in particular. It can ruin a life and cause so much devastation. So truthfully I would say that yes he is likely doing drugs again.
Might not be drugs but he is definitely doing something he is “Shameful” of doing. And chances are if he is lying about it to you, he already knows your opinion about it and is trying to hide it from you.
If you love him confront him with love and tell him you are worried about him. If he says everything is OK wait a while and if it keeps going you might have to find out what he is doing in order to confront him.
He still cares about you, because he does not want to lose you, treating to leave him may make things worse. The best way to resolve this is through friend/family intercession , But don’t gang up on the poor fella either.
Good luck with all this as it is a hard thing to accomplish successfully, just stay focused and be peaceful and patient.
This sounds really complex. I think that you should talk to the guy (not alone) and stage an intervention if necessary.
I think the better question is, ” … is it not possible there is a drug connection again?” It’s very likely this is the case. Rapid consumption of substances is one of the few things that can drive people to drop everything and be entirely focused on using .
Pardon me… that was meant to be “experience, STRENGTH, and hope”!?
Babs is truly one of the most wonderful Al Anon speakers I have ever
heard…. if you enjoy her as much as I do, go to “Dog On The Roof” and
listen to her share her “experience, faith and hope” through that venue.
She has made me laugh, cry, and get angry as hell…. and I wouldn’t trade
all that for the world. Thank you for posting this, and thank you Babs,
for teaching me that it’s okay to laugh at ourselves, and not take
ourselves quite so seriously.?
