'Dangers' of Marijuana? (2 Letters)

Filed under: marijuana addiction help

A rise in admissions to substance abuse treatment facilities for marijuana is not necessarily a result of higher rates of addiction, as the article asserts, but an outcome of the increasing use of drug courts. Drug courts sentence offenders to …

    Weed addiction? Seriously? Cmon? people!

  • NawticJ says:

    Yeah? Well half of those “fat people”? are probably high. Think a little deeper sir.

  • NawticJ says:

    I know someone who is sooo addicted to pot. It’s too much…in fact, because of experiencing? being around that addiction, as an occasional smoker, I was totally turned-off to it, and completely quit!

    Yup, those names? are directed toward your comment and i still support the use of the word “dumbass” to describe the person that said them. With that being said, tylenol kills more people than marijuana and your targeting marijuana? You obviously have some type of personal hatred with the drug, i’ve opened mindly considered your point and respectfully disagree. Go fuck yourself

  • RUDY2295 says:

    legalize? it….

  • AZAP28 says:

    I’m not looking to change anyone’s opinion & no one will change mine.? I am all for respecting difference of opinion. But mine shouldn’t be discounted b/c ppl don’t like it or b/c it doesn’t happen “often”.

  • AZAP28 says:

    My point in saying anything was to validate that its not this innocent drug that everyone says it is. Its the “better” of the rest of them, but that doesnt? make it ‘safe’. I don’t care who thinks otherwise, that’s their right. Just like it’s mine to think what I do. Smoke all you want. & If its gonna be legalized its gonna happen. I’m just voicing MY opinion like everyone else based on what I’ve seen with my own eyes. Facts. Not b/c I love/hate the drug but b/c Ive seen the ugly side.

  • basechung says:

    I never said it should be legal for everyone.? I just called you out for linking to the over-used argument of the “Schizophrenia Lottery”.

    They ban peanuts because you can die within minutes if you have an allergy. They ban marijuana because… well, actually, I can’t tell you why cannabis is banned. But apparently it’s not as good of an argument compared to the magically appearing Schizophrenia.

  • AZAP28 says:

    Difference is, pot is already ‘banned’ ~ and actually they DO ban peanut and/or nut products in schools for instance. Look, I’m aware of what medicinal benefits it has for ppl with chronic pain. But they have ways to distribute that for medical reasons.. does that mean make it legal for ‘everyone’?

    As for experiencing it for myself, not interested in the slightest. I don’t give? a crap who uses it, I have plenty of friends who do. I have just also seen the ‘bad side’ of it firsthand.

  • AZAP28 says:

    LOVE how when ppl have? a difference of opinion they call names. Typical.

  • basechung says:

    It is “safe”. Whether or not it has an adverse effect on one tiny array of people doesn’t matter. You don’t see people trying to ban peanuts all across the? country. Things like Ampethetemine and Oxycodone are handed out by “safe” doctors every day, when then direct you to take a “safe” measurement of this “safe” drug. By the way, it is miraculous. It helps people in extreme pain relax and be at ease. I hope one day you get to experience how beneficial it can be.

  • ImSoNotJewish says:

    @AZAP28
    Actually it does dumbass. The point is, is that if we have to right to kill? ourselves with alcohol and tobacco in this country, why can’t we use a drug that’s proven to be safer than both? As for alcohol and tobacco, i hate em both, but we’d have a bigger problem if they were illigal, so i support keeping them legal. With that being said, we should have the personal right to smoke marijuana. It’s not 1937, we have the research now, not sure what else we’re waiting for?

  • ImSoNotJewish says:

    @higgs666
    Man i try to get that point across? to so many people.. Think about it, food gives a small spike of dopamine when eaten, which is why it’s so hard for fatasses to loose weight, they love food, for this particular reason. Hard addiction comes from substances which give high dopamine spikes. Food is in the category with sex, gambling, and my personal favorite, marijuana. Now im not saying food is a drug, but when abused, it really follows the same path. Just something to think about.

  • IchibanCrane says:

    Treatment for marijuana? Isn’t that as stupid as needing treatment for drinking? chocolate milk? It’s cannabis, not crack. I put marijuana in the same category as coffee, or chamomile tea.

  • lenlee14 says:

    Things are “supposedly” illegal for safety reasons, yet guns are sold at Wal-Mart and prescription medication for depression can kill? you easier than cocaine?? Yeah, the government doesn’t care about us one bit. lol.

  • Higgs666 says:

    Just because you think things like alcohol, tobacco, and marijuana are dangerous doesn’t give you the right to prevent responsible adults from using them. It is a matter of personal freedom. If you want to pick on the real culprit, go smack the cheeseburgers out of fat people’s hands and lobby for anti-fat laws that fine and imprison the overweight. It is the number 1 preventable cause of death in? the United States right now, and the marijuana death toll is still hovering around 0.
