Doo You Think a Bookworm Is Someone Who’s Addicted to Books?

Question by deb2rule: Doo you think a bookworm is someone who’s addicted to books?
My husband believes I have an addiction to books because I love to read and am always reading and I have a book everywhere I go. And I even have a book in the car as well.

I have heard of people who drink alcohal or who uses nicotine products who can be addits, but never a person who likes to read, like I do.

So what do you think?

A bookworm is someone that enjoys reading. I don’t really see it as an addiction, though. You may want to curb your reading a bit, but hey, reading is better than doing drugs.

  • Joshms says:

A bookworm is simply someone who is often found with their nose in a book.
I don’t think you can be addicted to books.

  • SiriusisbetterthanEdward says:

i think i am addicted to books but i’m fine with it in my opinion i can never have to many books lol

  • Renaissance Man says:

Yes, and I’m guilty of being a bookworm.

  • reader says:

Nah, it’s not an addiction. You can quit any time you want, right? Wait, don’t answer that …

Actually, it kind of is, for most of us, because it is something that we do very habitually and feel a little lost without. It doesn’t compare to a physical addiction. The main thing that suffers from my reading is my housework, after all. By the way, I always keep a book in the car. You just never know when you’ll be stuck waiting somewhere.

The thing about reading as a hobby is that it’s so portable. You can really take it everywhere, you can do it for hours on end, or just kill a few minutes with it. It’s quiet, it doesn’t require batteries (well, usually!), but a lot of people don’t do it so they notice that you do.

All I’m saying is that I wouldn’t worry about it too much. Just don’t let it hurt your husband’s feelings, if you can help it.

Just finished this book. Thank you Nikki, you saved me. You sir, are? a hero.

  • CrissAngelsBabyAngel says:

my father’s favorite band has always been Motley Crue, but me, at 12 years old (4 years ago), had to bring Nikki Sixx’s new accomplishments to him.? Nikki was always my hero/favorite for the good and the bad, and at the height of my depression in early 2011, this book and his beautiful poetry/random thoughts/unused lyrics throughout the book saved me. love it to death (no pun intended from the Alice Cooper album) 🙂

  • YourChaoticDesire says:

    Nikki is so? inspiring.

  • Jimmy David says:

You bet that’s right! And, as if leading a tough life isn’t enough, you get the eye from society and disrespect from authorities. Nikki was just an “unfortunate” goog man… the poor are junkie bastards that should all go to? jail!!!

  • Tony Burke says:

Exactly. Us poor people can’t afford good clean gear, good food or top class medical care. When you’ve got money the hardest past is making the decision but when you’re broke and homeless? it’s a totally different world.

  • Jimmy David says:

His “problem” was nothing compared with what others with less money go through. He had the means to support his addiction, so all he really had to do was quit the use of a substance, wich he did. The real problem goes way beyond the substance itself: it’s the panic of not knowing where to get the money for the next? fix, it’s living on the streets, shooting up in public toillets with no hygiene, it’s not being able to afford a doctor and watching your health decline…

  • Lonestarry says:

I am so glad Nikki pulled through that chapter of his life – he is such a talent – and so very good looking.? What in the hell is the matter with Kat Von D? She chose Jesse over this hunk? She’s crazy.

  • DervishBoards says:

None of you guys realize on how hard it fucken is to quit this drug, If youve never done it dont comment on it, Think of it as if you were in a desert and ran 10miles and needed a drink, and you’d gulp it down faster than you can say gimme, Thats exactly what its like for him every second of the day, He’s still a heroin addict, Even though he doesn’t do it, the crave is still there, and Yeah there are normal people who get clean and sober but he Published a book, how many people can do that? huh

  • maluse227 says:

you people fucking suck how could you say this about this kind of man get over yourselves its his life and i dont doubt him? for a minute dont discount his story or the fact that he has helped many many people.

  • maluse227 says:

not even remotely true this guy had those problems and is helping people himself he just has the added talent to inspire others to get clean with his music that alone is more meaningful than anything else. plus he gave most of the? book/albums proceeds to charity for addicts.

  • Lolwoo1 says:

Oh please, why do people worship millionaires? There are normal people out there everyday who have got clean and are working a normal job and helping others to stay clean. All this guy does is sit on his soap box and make money from it! What rubbish..?

  • Lolwoo1 says:

@chopperslam I agree as? a recovering addict myself I don’t know of one person who could of kept a diary through addiction..obviously all for money!!

  • DDDRUUMMINIT says:

    20 years or so
    ?

  • Awzomk says:

In the interview they say he has been sober for 6.5 years. dont talk when you’re? just obviously guessing lol

  • IvelLlehctim says:

Pot did that for Willie Nelson. He was heavy into whisky and was? able to quit when he started smoking pot.

  • IvelLlehctim says:

    He’s been sober since 1987 I? think

  • MrOboema says:

So after he’s done doing all the chicks, coke, heroin and then all the chicks again and then heroin again, he’s trying to tell us not to take the same path? Ah, c’mon.
Writing this book sounds like a money making scheme.

Or trying to? get back in the picture.

  • Zombieslayer626 says:

How long? has he been sober?

  • Lysergenic Diethylamide says:

I use to huff air duster, take lots of ecstasy, hydrocodones, Xanax, snort coke, tried meth and crack, and binged heavily on alcohol.. And some other things.. I wasn’t exactly addicted to any certain drug but I was addicted to getting fucked up? cuz I couldn’t stand being sober. Then I tried shrooms, and saw no point in doing any other drug.. It made me straighten up my life.. I even quit smoking cigarettes. They made me appreciate my life.

  • capebee says:

Hate? h0w the interviewer interrupts Nikki at the end.

  • geesegirl says:

I love Nikki, and respect him sooo much, I? was never an addict in that way, but the way he talks impresses me so much, I love him……
