yea it was oddly and wierdly interesting but it focuses on several diffrent age groups a grand father a son and a grandson so i can see how it would be for all those ages!definitly for a teenager !!!

I thought it was kind of weak for an HBO series. I think a 15 yo guy would be interested, as it involves surfing and the beach and you know that would also include girls in bikinis!
Too early to tell, in my opinion, but I would not let my 15-year old watch it. It has a Mature rating, so my 15-year old would have to wait until he is 21 and get his own subscription.
I thought it was kind of boring, but. . .

Might have been a mistake to air it immediately after The Sopranos Season Finale.

“None of the music in David Milch’s new surfing series on HBO is by the Beach Boys. The surfing scenes are few and fleeting.
Instead seedy characters spit out a lot of obscenities, and some use oddly mannered speech, giving “John From Cincinnati” a flavor of “Deadwood,” only in a contemporary beach setting — “Driftwood.”
“John From Cincinnati,” in other words, has many barriers to success, and the premiere episode is almost willfully strange and unlikable. But that doesn’t mean that the series is bad, just peculiar, a solemn mythologization — and mystification — of surfing as unearthly pleasure and life-sapping addiction.
Mr. Milch’s new show is not likely to fulfill the nation’s yearning to fill the void left by “The Sopranos,” or, for that matter, “Deadwood.” It’s more like “Big Love” or “Carnivàle,” smart, ambitious series that move unusual characters around an unfamiliar setting imaginatively and even with grace, but that never quite quit the surly bonds of serial drama.”

Depends on your personal preference. You didn’t miss much last night.
Its another show that tries to be weird, there is a little kid who can’t act worth a damn and luke perry is making its comeback.
Its not a good show for a 15yr old because most teenagers would get very bored with it. It seems like you will have to watch 5 or 6 episodes before it gets good or else it needs to be cancelled.
It was a huge disappointment, in my opinion. First of all, having it follow the Sopranos season finale was a mistake. Second, we gave up Deadwood for this??? I’ll give it a few more tries…maybe it will surprise me.
If you like surfing and odd behavior, you may get into the show.
