What Do You Think About My Animal Testing Essay?

Question by Nahc: What do you think about my animal testing essay?
Im in grade 10 btw.
What do you think about my animal testing essay? What can I add or remove? Any changes?

Imagine living inside a locked closet without any control of your life. You can’t choose when and what you want to eat, or how you will spend your time. You can’t even decide when the lights go on and off. Think about spending your entire life like this, even though you have committed no crime. This is life for an animal in a laboratory. It is deprivation, isolation, and misery.

Animal testing is a way scientists see if everyday human products are safe enough for us to use. Animals are used for research in a variety of settings, including tests to determine the safety of drugs, cosmetics, and other substances. Animals are abused, neglected and suffer in pain to get you your products you use everyday. They are kept in dark, sad spaces in isolation and in tiny cages suffering greatly from loneliness, boredom and lack of love. The stress that animals endure in labs can affect experiments, making the results meaningless. Experimenters continue to poison and harm animals that aren’t even required by law. Rats, mice, guinea pigs, rabbits, and other animals are forced to swallow or inhale massive quantities of a test substance or endure the pain of having chemicals applied to their sensitive eyes and skin even though the results of animal tests are often unreliable or not applicable to humans. There are many warning signs and side effects on almost every drug out there; so testing on animals doesn’t take all of the negative effects away. Animal testing may even be the reason why there are so many side effects on medication nowadays.

Many huge health charities, including the American Cancer Society, the March of Dimes, and the American Heart Association actually take millions of lives. They waste millions of dollars on cruel, irrelevant experiments on dogs, cats, mice, pigs and other animals instead of spending them on promising human-based programs that are much more likely to provide treatments and cures.

Products meant for humans should be tested on humans. It’s the only way to know if they will work as intended, and we have the choice of whether or not to volunteer for testing; animals are given no choice, they are simply used and discarded like objects. They have as much right as we do to live, and the right to live that life free of pain and misery.

This is actually a debate and I was wondering if you can provide some questions that may be asked in the debate.
btw, this has to be memorized so I didn’t add much and since it can only range from 3 to 5 minutes… and this is my first debate so I dn’t really know anything..

You need facts and/or quotes to substantiate most of your claims. It seems like you are shooting off the cuff, which means you are unprepared for combat.

You need to win by fighting back with statistics and other data that can’t be disputed. Do you have percentages of products, do you have actual manufacturers and what they test on which animal? Do you know the actual size of a lab room? Do you know the rates of animals tested versus animals that would die on their own? Where are these test animals taken from? Are they already scheduled to be put to sleep?

    Debate wise – you have no proof testing on animals wastes money. It is highly probable it yields meaningful results. You are on very weak ground saying animals have the right to live.

    Some poor English, and poor composition style, too. You are trying to use emotion to win your case, instead of logic.

    BQ: why do they test some products on lawyers? – Because there are things that not even a mouse will do. {where do you propose finding humans that will put up with the pain and suffering?}
