First of all, addiction treatment programs are not just about medication. It’s not all about anti-depressants and mood stabilizers. There must be continued care and supervision. There must also be counseling and therapy. There must be a periodical assessment to keep track of the progress of the patient. The intensity and length of the treatment of the patient depends upon the severity of his drug addiction.

A 12 step program is the ONLY thing that has helped me to stay clean. In 35 days – if I make it – I’ll be clean for 3 years. When I was using, I couldn’t go 3 hours without drugs.
Methadone or Saproxen (sp?) aren’t going to work, they mask the withdrawal symptoms. Living clean – one day at a time – is the only way, and there is an organization designed specifically for that:

Authentic love, genuine listening, paying attention, honoring and respecting someone’s realness, nurturing touch, soulful compassion, and a spirit of honest caring.
People become addicts because they hunger to be heard and seen and loved and this society is SO void of those basic human needs.
